Wondering how to find more clients for your travel agency?
A lot has changed since I started in 2011 working for Liberty Travel. Admittedly, I was spoiled.
I was 24, working with agents who had been in the business for 15+ years! I soaked up their knowledge like a sponged, carefully watched them with clients, took noticed of what questions they were asking to qualify and I grew quickly!
Another advantage I had was working in the mall. Our store was right by one of the main entrances with a “Deal of the Day” board with pretty pictures to entice people to come in and get a quote or at the very least a brochure with our card stapled to the front.
Ohh the good old days. Clients just walking through the door, responding to ads online, quote-book-go.
That was all great until I decided to leave (toxic work environment … whomp whomp) and become an independent contractor working under some virtual travel agencies. Suddenly, I needed to know how to find clients to grow my travel agency.
And since over 85% of travel agencies don’t have a physical location, online marketing has become a necessity for travel agencies. Of course, there are still bridal shows, local networking, referrals, etc, but to stay on top of mind and to grow, online content is non-negotiable.
Because believe me when I tell you, the brides that you meet and the referrals that are getting sent are going to be snooping your socials and website to decide if you’re the person they’re going to want to work with.
I understand that there are not enough hours in the day to keep up with clients, bookkeeping, family responsibilities AND marketing, which is why I love to find ways to keep it as simple as possible for you.
So let’s get into some strategies to keep your business growing!
If you want to stand out from the thousands of travel agents posting pretty graphics with a generic stat about Italy , storytelling is your superpower.
What makes you different? Your take. Your experiences. Your love for a place.
Try bite-sized content that tells a story:
These are the posts that make people feel something—and that’s what builds trust.
Let’s normalize showing what it actually looks like to work with a travel advisor. Because spoiler alert: most people don’t know.
Show the planning, the care, the DM support, the custom touches.
Post:
This kind of content says, “This is what it’s like to have me in your corner.”
You don’t have to turn into an influencer—but don’t underestimate how much your followers want to see the human behind the biz.
Hop on Stories and share:
The more people feel like they know you, the easier it is for them to trust you with their travel plans.
We love Instagram. But if you want to be found by people outside your circle, you’ve got to speak Google’s language too.
Keywords are the things that signal to Google and other search engines what your content, website, and profiles are all about. A SEO professional can help you identify which keywords you should be using throughout your website and blogs.
Example keywords: top resorts in Cancun for honeymooners / what is TSA pre-check.
Basically, keywords are the words/phrases that people are searching for 🙂
Here’s how:
And don’t have a panic attack thinking that you have nothing to blog about! Grab a piece of content from Instagram (or wherever you post the most) and repurpose it using ChatGPT then add your own voice and touches and voilá, you’ve got yourself a blog post.
Another thing, keywords are becoming more important to Instagram, LinkedIn and other platforms too so make sure you’re including them across your content.
Remember your email list? Let’s dust it off because that’s where the magic happens.
No fighting an algorithm, praying that your post gets shown to your followers, they get to see your name pop up in their inbox weekly or monthly!
Don’t have an email list yet? Start small—create a simple lead magnet (think: free guide, travel checklist, or quiz). Then, show up in their inbox once a week or twice a month.
And no, it doesn’t have to be a hard sell every time. Think:
Emails don’t need to be long to be effective—they just need to sound like you.
Algorithms shift. Platforms change. But consistency? Still undefeated.
You don’t have to post every day, but you do need to keep showing up—on the platforms your audience uses.
Think:
Start small. Stay steady. Your future clients are watching (and lurking!) even if they’re not commenting just yet.
I know this may seem like a lot and in the beginning it will feel that way but once you get in the habit of implementing these tips, you’ll see your Instagram engagement grow, inquiries increase and see that people are taking notice in your services.
Because in 2025, the travel agents who grow are the ones who focus on connection, consistency, and showing up as themselves.
And I know that’s you.
If you’re just not into figuring this all out on your own, I’d love to support you!
